Criminal Penalties for Sex Crimes in Pennsylvania
A number of acts can lead to charges of a sex crime in this state. The associated penalties are significant:

| Incest | 10 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Sexual abuse of children | 10 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Sexual assault | 10 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Rape | 20 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Statutory sexual assault | 20 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Sexual exploitation of children | 10 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse | 20 years prison + fines of $25,000 |
| Institutional sexual assault | 7 years prison + fines of $15,000 |
| Indecent assault | 7 years prison + fines of $15,000 |
In addition to these consequences, those found guilty of sex offenses are placed on the state’s sex offender registry for a period of 15 or 25 years, and, in some cases, for life. They must report any address changes, and physically report to law enforcement periodically.
