Abby is a Florida native who graduated with her bachelor’s degree from University of Florida with the Dean’s Medal of Excellence, where she majored in criminology and minored in communications and anthropology. Following in her parent’s footsteps, Abby pursued a legal career focused in criminal defense. Having family ties to Pittsburgh, Abby relocated and attended Duquesne University School of Law. Abby graduated with her J.D. from Duquesne, with a specialty in Criminal Litigation, in May 2021.
During law school, Abby worked at a personal injury firm as well as at family law and civil rights law firms. During her time at Duquesne, Abby was a member of the Jewish Law Society, Women’s Law Society Allegheny County Bar Association and she served as Treasurer of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. Abby also was a Legal Skills Mentor during her time at Duquesne University.
Abby began her legal career as Michael van der Veen’s law clerk at van der Veen, Hartshorn & Levin. Upon admittance to the bar in October 2021, she transitioned into the role as an Associate of the firm. Her primary focus is on criminal defense, while also assisting in civil matters. Abby also does pro bono work with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project.
Abby takes great pride in ensuring her clients are zealously represented. Abby handles across Pennsylvania from Philadelphia to Erie.
In her free time, Abby spends time with her 6-year-old Chow Chow and also enjoys working out.
