  1. Obey speed limits, state driving laws, traffic signals, and signs

  4. Drive cautiously near schools and in neighborhoods
  5. Keep eyes on the road at all times.
  6. Avoid driving distractions such as eating, drinking, or using your phone.
  7. Set navigation before leaving your destination
  8. Children under the age of 13 should be in the backset, buckled up properly.
  9. Check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations VIN search tool and familiarize yourself with any recalls or if your vehicle requires repairs.
  10. Schedule preventative maintenance checkups with your mechanic
  11. Never operate a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol, prescription, or illegal drugs (they can cause drivers to become drowsy or confused, which will affect required judgment)
  12. Always be mindful of pedestrians, scooterists, and motorcyclists you may be sharing the road with
